Awesome interview with Ukrainian traveler and host of couchsurfing

How did you start with couchsurfing?

We heard a lot from friends, read blogs. Drove in the first journey by hitchhiking and had no where to stay. Then they registered and met with a wonderful husband. The first experience was just wonderful.

How do you choose your guests?

If at this time we are at home and there is a place, and the guest has positive feedback, then we accept it.

Why do you host?

Because it is an opportunity to help people and the incredible world of new acquaintances and friends. It is interesting to share experiences and learn something new.

How many countries did you traveled yet?

In addition to Ukraine, there are three. Belarus, Georgia, Azerbaijan. But soon there will be a new long journey.

in How many countries did you stay by couchsurfing or other similar websites?

So far, there are three, but we are working on expanding experiences and travels.

How is your experiencs while providing hosting in your place to other travelers?

Which is one is your most memorable and worst experiences? We had only a positive experience in providing a place. In Azerbaijan, we had a boyfriend and there were problems, but that was completely different.

How is your experiences with hosts during your travelling in other countries or in the same country?

Usually everything is very good. The main thing - to find a common language and get acquainted with the selection of the house in the city.

How much money did you spend on your trips? How much money did you save because of CS?

We spend a lot on the trip, because it is a hitch, a CS and a tent. Thanks to CS, we save a lot of money.

How far is the public transportation or railway station or metro station or bus station or airport from your home?

From the central station of Kyiv there is a tram to us, several bus stops from the metro. Boryspil airport is very far away, and Zhulyany is almost nearby. From there there are buses and taxis are not expensive.

How is the public transportation in your city?

We are accustomed to, and foreigners do not understand our buses. However, the subway and the tram are comfortable and have English.

Do you have Uber services at your city?

YES!

How far is the shopping mall from your home?

On the one hand - 400 meters, on the other - 1 kilometer. All you need to buy is. And near the house there is a market with farmers' environmental fruits and vegetables.

How is the wifi availability or internet availability in your city or during travel?

There are Wi-Fi in the city in parks, restaurants, trams, some metro stations and most of the city's residents.

No, just do not smoke.

What are you bad experiences with hosts or travelers?

In Azerbaijan, we agreed with the boyfriend, but he was late for a meeting at 2 o'clock and said that he would not be able to take us that night, and we were left on the street. But fate brought with a good man, whom we were able to stop. The rest of the trips were successful.

What are the things you learn about different cultures?

It is difficult to describe. Unlike hotel tourists, you understand how people really live, they tell about their culture with details and examples. Can explain everything and you see not a small picture for a tourist in the city center, and you know the essence.

Have you changed since you started to host?

Yes, I've become easier to look at life and do not bother with trivialities.

No. I'm in love with this. I am dependent on traveling. Travel is part of me. To say that I like it - not to say anything.
